Emergency Locations with Ham Radio Equipment

February 18, 2021 by normd

Here is a list of the locations in Augusta County that have some sort of ham radio equipment or antennas installed, for us to use in case of a call-up: County Schools that are listed as Emergency Shelters (they all have 144/440 verticals installed, with the cable running to the location mentioned; you’ll have to supply a radio, power supply, and a coax jumper cable to attach to the SO-239 wall connection; probably be a good idea to bring headphones):

  • Wilson Memorial High School: Office.
  • Stuarts Draft High School: Clinic.
  • Stuarts Draft Elementary: Office, on wall next to Principal’s office.
  • Clymore Elementary: Office, on wall next to Principal’s office.
  • Churchville Ele: Assistant Principal’s Office
  • Beverly Manor Middle School: Principal’s Office
  • Augusta County ECC Center: Equipment room next to the Dispatchers in the basement (you’ll need a barrel connector, as there is no SO-239).
  • Staunton-Augusta Rescue Squad: first room on the right, in the closet.
  • Waynesboro ECC: They have equipment and antennas, but no antennas installed yet
  • Augusta Health: 3rd floor, west Conference Room, in the closet. Complete HF/VHF station

Note: Wilson Middle School is also an Emergency Shelter, but does not have any ham equipment installed.
