Welcome to VARA, Inc. (W4XD)

The Club Meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month at
Armstrong’s Restaurant on Rt 11 in Verona
Dining & Fraternization starts at 6pm – Meeting starts at 7pm 

The Valley Amateur Radio Association (VARA) is in the Waynesboro/Staunton/Augusta County area and is dedicated to radio service in our community. We provide radio communication when possible in times of emergency, during emergency preparedness drills and for public events where radio communications can facilitate the safety of the general public. VARA is dedicated  to further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism and individual operating efficiency, and to conduct club programs and activities as to advance the general interest, knowledge and welfare of amateur radio in the community.

Our big events are Field Day in June and a variety of bicycle, running and motorcycle events in the Fall providing communications with the organizers and emergency personnel where there is no cellular service. See our Calendar and Field Day pages for for more information.

In-Person Meetings

We meet in person at Armstrong’s Restaurant on Rt 11 (Lee Highway) in Verona.  We will have our own private, quiet room for the meeting and the restaurant will be prepared for diners at 6:00 PM. The meeting starts at 7:00 PM.  The room can accommodate 40 attendees comfortably. Armstrong’s does not take Credit Cards.
